Brian Kakuk (front) and Paul Heinerth (rear) are in the chamber about to emerge after a long decompression that took them through the night and up until noon today. Here Brian hands out the containers from their dinners (they were the first team to get both "in flight" dinner and breakfast in the chamber) [photo ©1999 Barbara Anne am Ende].

Dr. Henry Kendall left the expedition for a couple of weeks, but he was able to return. Here he "chills" waiting for his dive partners to get their gear ready [photo ©1999 Barbara Anne am Ende].

This photo was taken on digital video camera several days ago. It shows the digital wall mapper resting in the "cradle" (built by Ed Marks). Every mapping mission in Wakulla begins with a "downmode align" in the cradle where the inertial navigation system is recalibrated and given a uniform starting point (A0). In this photo, Chris Brown captures the National Geographic photo crew shooting the alignment process [photo ©1999 Christopher Brown].

Today's Humor Picture: Several Scuba West chairs were loaned to the expedition. One by one these ancient chairs began to collapse. Finally, the last rickety chair gave way. When we heard the big commotion coming from the kitchen, everyone else in Mission Control yelled, "Don't move--get the camera!" shortly followed by "Who won the pool?" We didn't really have a pool going, but Noel Sloan gets the prize for having been the one sitting in the chair when it broke [photo ©1999 Barbara Anne am Ende].
