Computer graphics guru Fred Wefer arrived on site today. Fred wrote the software for "crunching" and displaying the data gathered by the digital wall mapper. [photo ©1998 Barbara Anne am Ende].

Previous successful unmanned tests of the decompression chamber resulted in the first manned pressurization test. Here Andrew Poole enters the chamber to begin the test [photo ©1998 William C. Stone].

Andrew Poole is being decompressed inside the chamber under the expert supervision of Brian Kakuk. Paul Heinerth, Brett Evans, Noel Sloan, Bill Stone, and John Buxton anxiously look on [photo ©1998 Barbara Anne am Ende].

Brian Kakuk opens the hatch to release Andrew while Paul Heinerth looks on. Note that Andrew changed out of his drysuit and into dry clothes while in the chamber. The test was entirely successful, although initially an extremely small leak between the transfer capsule and the main chamber needed to be stopped by aligning the two chambers with a pair of cable hoists [photo ©1998 Barbara Anne am Ende].
