This is a preliminary composite map (plan view) of all mapping runs into Wakulla Spring during January, 1999. Each color of tiny dots represents a separate mapping run through a given tunnel. The medium-sized red dots are radio beacon locations, usually visible only where the mapping runs haven't obscured the red dots. North is up on this map. The image was created by displaying more than a million 3D data points on a high resolution Silicon Graphics machine and then performing a screen capture. In this highly condensed rendition, individual points blur together due to the small scale. The result is a "technicolor" look, particularly in A-Tunnel, where there have been six data collection runs.
